Sreenivasan has time and again made it clear that Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar is not a sequel to Mohanlal-Sreenivasan starrer, Udayananu Thaaram. However, the audience expected Dr Saroj Kumar to be an extension of the original in spite of the absence of superstar Mohanlal in the film.


If you are expecting to see a film as classy and funny as Udayananu Thaaram, then Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar, directed by Sajin Raghava might disappoint you.

Dr Saroj Kumar retains many of the characters of Udayananu Thaaram. However, this time, they fail to make any remarkable impact since all you see them do is repeat their old avatars.

Sreenivasan has written the script for Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar as well. The film takes a humorous dig at many superstars in the Malayalam film industry.

The current scenario of strikes and bans by the various organisations in the film industry has been approached in a comic manner. The controversial statement made by actor Prithviraj's wife on her husband’s ability to speak good English is ridiculed.

IT raids made at few of the superstar homes are also laughed at Dr Saroj Kumar takes a pick on superstar Mohanlal. His appointment as a Colonel in the Army, few of his commercials and even his paunch are made fun of.

Though Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar is truly funny in several ways, one cannot help but comment that Sreenivasan has gone a bit overboard this time, trying to pick on his colleagues. You might even doubt his intentions of poking fun at some people.

Performances
Sreenivasan is good in certain parts, though he tends to be monotonous towards the second half. Mamta Mohandas plays the role of Sreenivasan's young wife in Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar. She seems completely wasted as she has nothing substantial to do.

Vineeth Sreenivasan has a long way to go as an actor. All other actors give an average performance.
Overall, Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar is a far cry away from Udayananu Thaaram.
