Kandahar – Sentimental Hijack

The Big bash of Christmas “Kandahar” released in almost 150 theatres across India today. Directed by Major Ravi the film has two biggest breed of Indian cinema Amitab Bachan and our Mohanlal. Moreover the plot of the movie is a rescue operation by NSG commandos and is based on a real incident, hijack of Airindia flight to Kandahar by Terrorists. It’s a patriotic movie dedicated to the brave soldiers of Indian Army. ‘Kandahar’ is the continuation of ‘Keerthichakra’ and ‘Kurushetra’  where  ‘Major Mahadevans’ is on another mission to save his country from enemies.

The movie begins where Major Mahadevan coming with the body of a soldier. The First half of the story  is the flashback, how Major Mahadevan transforms an angry energetic educated unemployed  young man to a brave army man. The young man is Mr Surya played by who is very bonded to his father Mr. Loknath Sharma a retired teacher and a gentleman. And he is none other than Amitab Bachan. Big B’s presence really upholds the story but the behavior of son and father misses a rapport. Only by dialogues we understand how deep they love each other. Another story of an unemployed young man is also developing parallel to this story. He was trapped by a terrorist recruiter and his mother warns him to get away from that but he neglect to obey his mother and joins the terrorist team at the same time Surya joins Indian Army.  KPAC Lalitha is tremendous as usual in her role as the helpless mother.

NSG Training, Item number, Dating, Terrorist Camp, Taliban, a flight hijack, commando operation and the movie ends with emotional dialogues and a patriotic song.
Mohanlal is best in his looks and performance but he has less to do.

Verdict:  Good to see Mohanlal and Amitab Bachan together.
