After a long time the theatres across Kerala celebrated full packed shows. The first and most waited release of the season Shikkar the hunt today blessed theatres with an exciting experience. Shikkar is really a hunt where the pray and predators transforms their role at regular interval with as much suspense and thrill. Director Padmakumar proved that he has the caliber to do big movies.

When it comes to Malayalam this story is different, the background of the story, the way it is pictured, the well defined characterization of all actors, through out suspense from the first scene and the non supernatural hero everything adds enough thrill and punch to the movie. It has succeeded to maintain the tempo till the climax. The efforts of the entire team of Shikkar really deserves a good appreciation.

Superstar Mohanlal is supreme as usual. He is outreached in his role as a lovely husband, caring father, courageous common man and a (suspense). The Tamil actor Samuthrakani in the roll of Comrade Abdullah is quiet impressive as a telungu Naxal Activist. Jagathy, Suraj, Kochupreman, and Sreelatha handles the comedy track. Kailash and Ananya and other new faces are also notable by their performance.

The songs by late Gireesh puthenchery and M jayachandran team is good. Especially “pinnil onnum paraythe” once again memorize the fact that “how much this lyricist was important to us”. Background Score by Ouseppachan is also special. Renjan Abraham’s editing Art by Jagath and Camera by Manoj Pillai is also superb. Script by S Suresh babu is noteworthy. The director justified the theme by his outstanding cuts and frames.
