Shalom Studios forthcoming film ‘Mynaa’ directed by Prabhu Solomon, who is known for his off-beat films like ‘Kokki’, ‘Lee’ and ‘Laadam’. Vidharth from ‘Koothu Pattarai’ plays Suruli and and Anaka of ‘Sindhu Samaveli’ fame plays the title role Mynaa.“Love others like how you love yourself" is the one-line of the story. It is a realistic love story of the travails of a driver who falls in love with a tribal girl and the hardships they encounter. 'Mynaa' is a character of a tribal girl from Theni who has studied until the tenth standard and falls in love with Suruli only to face adversity. The story is set in deep forests and the location also plays an important role in the film. Mynaa was considered as a small film and now it has turned one BIG film by the non-stop word of mouth hype. It started with Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies and Kalpathi Aghoram jointly acquiring the marketing rights of ‘Mynaa’. Udhayanidhi Stalin said that he could not sleep for two days after seeing such a realistic movie. It got emboldened after Kamal Haasan saying some of the best words at the audio launch of the film. Kamal said that he slept well after watching the film because after watching ‘Mynaa’ he is sure the future of Tamil cinema is in good hands. Such rave reviews even before the release has increased the expectations of the film. Director Prabhu Solomon says his film will not be disappointing. He says his characters Mynaa, Suruli, Kuruvamma, Meenathchi, Kirukkumayee, Mandai Oadu, Manikkam, Baskar and Ramaiah will live in you even after the film. His penchant for realism is evident in ‘Mynaa’ also. To get an authentic hilly terrain to shoot the film, the creative team travelled over 12000 kilometers and found a hillock at Kurangani near Bodinayakanur near Madurai. The entire film was shot there. After struggling with rain, shower and summer, the film was completed in just 68 days. The film has six songs and all of them are montages. Yugabharathi has written the lyrics and music composed by D. Imman. He has composed the songs according to the film which is very delightful thematic rather than his street smart and kuthu number songs. Cinematographer M Sukumar who was promoted to be a cameraman by Prabhu Solomon in ‘Laadam’ has captured the essence of tribal life beautifully. Experts said they could not find from where the light comes in the film and that is a testimony to the brilliant cinematography in ‘Mynaa’. The movie has acquired a status even before its release and by the time it releases on November 5, Diwali day, it would have grown even more. Top notch discerning viewers from the industry have already seen the movie and vouched for its sensitivity and said they got a sense of satisfaction. So it may not be wrong to recommend a film that everyone believes is a step in taking Tamil cinema in the right direction.
