The film is the remake of the Telugu hit Arya which had Allu Arjun and Geetha in lead roles. The film Arya was dubbed into many languages and was super hit. Dhanush is the shining star in Tamil industry with bigger number of fans and acting talent. Dhanush’s selection of story and directors has brought him in this position after a string of flops.

The son in law of Thalaivar is hot with hat trick success; Vetrimaaran's Pollathavan with Divya Spandana (an adaptation of Bicycle Thieves), Jawahar's Yaaradi Nee Mohini with Nayanthara (remake of Selvaraghavan's Telugu hit Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule) and Suraj's Padikkathavan with Tamannah.

The movie is about a college guy (Kutty) who falls in love with Shriya Saran at first sight. She refuses him when he proposes as she is already in love with another boy. Rest of the film is about how he wins heroine with his attitude and positive outlook.

Dhanush will be seen in some trendy clothes and fashionable hairstyle and a positive attitude in the film. Mithran R Jawahar is the director of Kutty. He had earlier directed, Yaaredi Nee Mohini with Dhanush. Devi Sri Prasad makes music for this film.

Balasubramaniyam is capturing the film in his camera while editing is handled by Kola Bhaskar.
